The Cascade Outreach Model in astronomy engagement during National Science Week

The "Cascade Outreach Model in Astronomy Engagement” project, implemented during National Science Week 2023 in South Africa, was a collaborative initiative designed to ignite curiosity and foster a passion for astronomy among diverse communities, particularly the youth. The project also highlighted potential career paths in STEM fields. Through strategic partnerships with local education departments and the active involvement of dedicated outreach ambassadors – mostly astronomy postgraduate students – the initiative expanded its reach across six of South Africa’s nine provinces.
